Fake news is currently circulating on social media, claiming that General André Ehonza Uketi, an officer in the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC), was killed by a group of Patriots in Sange.

According to this rumor, his death occurred due to his alleged collaboration with the M23 group , and his role in the fall of areas such as Minova and Bwemerana, which fell under M23 control.

One X user wrote

"The patriots, on the orders of Kinshasa, killed General André Ehonza Ekuti in Sange, out of hatred. This is what is called in the Red Army of the USSR: Order number 270."

Another wrote, "FARDC General André Ehonza. He was supposedly killed by Patriots who accused him of treason! DRC government , do you really think these officers deserve to be treated like this!"

On Youtube too, a video was shared with audio, a picture of him and a fighter jet can be seen. However, after carefully checking the facts, this information is completely false and baseless.

In an exclusive interview with Kivutimes, Lieutenant Marc Elongo, FARDC spokesman in the Sokola 2 operational sector in southern South Kivu, confirmed that General Uketi is in good health and continues to carry out his military duties.

He explained that this rumor was fabricated and spread by individuals with suspicious intentions, seeking to create confusion and discourage military efforts in maintaining peace and security.

Our Disinformation Investigation Unit confirms that General André Ehonza Ekuti is alive and continuing with his duties based on our thorough investigation.

But security sources we spoke to also confirmed that he is alive.
